The Architects saw a sanctuary in the heart of an urbanised environment. It consists of five warehouse-like elements, constructed from timber, each with four levels, linked by a timbered pedestrian boardwalk, elevated and widened in parts to encourage places for people to gather or simply to reflect in the restored natural environment.
The physical form of the building, with its stylised warehouse roof and timber finishes, echoes the industrial warehouse heritage of the region.
The exterior is softened by durable and sustainably sourced timber finishes on the façade that shield the building from harsh western sun in summer and insulate during winter.
The 3,405sqm site incorporates larger than normal apartments, 8 one bedroom apartments each with 57sqm of internal floor space (Property Council Method of Measurement) each with balcony space of 11sqm. The 53 two bedroom units have an internal floor area ranging from 72sqm through to 88sqm (Property Council Method of Measurement) with balcony areas ranging from 11 sqm through to 50sqm.
